Dear Agnes,
Nowadays, due to the highly commercialization of Feng Shui, every object that can be sold has been given a `tag' as a Feng Shui enhancer or cure or neutralising agent.
For example, even in Chinese beliefs such as the three legged toad has been said to bring `good fortune'. Sometimes these objects are sold for more than US$50 or more and I am not too sure who has the better fortune?
The seller or the poor buyer who had just departed with US $50 or more?

Usually, metal windchimes can be used as the equivalent of I Ching coins (6 coins) used as " Big metal " to cure bad earth or bad wood elements.
Alternatively, some FS practitioners advise the use of grand father clock i.e the tick-tock.. effect (as adding the sound of metal).
Wooden wind chimes can be used to enhance a sector that requires the wood element.
Here, it is simply looking at the Flying Star of a sector and finding out which element is needed to control another element.

Yes, 6 coins is usually used here to represent `Big Metal'. As it is primarily used to neutraise #2 sickness; #5 misfortune and #3 bad wood element.
The red string helps to bind the 6 coins together or control it.
Alternatively, some FS practitioners would sell their clients a piece of copper ruler. The COPPER RULER represents `Big metal' and is used in similar cures.

Usually, these are more of .. commercialised products... Let the buyer beware...

For all the above objects; avoid a similar concept such as `over eating' or over indulgence...
If he liked a wind chime and already `eyed' a location to place it, usually, this is acceptable.
But, if one purchase wind chimes or several wind chimes in the hope of enhancing the home, this is a different thing all together.
Placing several wind chimes is like trying out one's luck or the chances of placing it at a wrong location ... is a higher risks.
Warmest Regards
Cecil

User's Comments After browsing many many feng shui sites, I came to one conclusion: your site is the most sensible, reasonable and helpful one of all. I've been to sites where they want to sell you just about anything and everything. The information they are willing to give is so trivial and one senses that the only thing they are interested in is to make money and sell you products that might and might not fit in with your decor or your culture, and of course doesn't serve the purpose of curing and or enhancing. Sorry for the long message, but I have a friend who spent a fortune buying all types of figurines to cure then to enhance and then eventually all she got was more figures on her credit card and no luck! I believe that what one should do is get your advise first because it makes so much sense and it is always sincere. I also believe that people should buy things that pleases their eye and provide a sense of beauty and balance. Again sorry for the long message and thank you for a wonderful site.
